Catharine Beecher was a very influential house fabricator during the 19th century. She created the first house plans that had a storage area, used heating fuels, and found ways to make household tasks easier and more quickly done. She was one of the few girls in the 1800’s that was privileged enough to have gotten an education. She opened her own seminary for girls, Hatford Female Seminary. Later after her sister had received an education, she also taught at the institute.  Without her house plan we wouldn’t have modern day house models.
